The largest market for handmade and local goods. What changed at the border in 2025, what American buyers look for, and how 1VIM keeps the price clear.

Why it is worth it

American buyers look for things with a place and a story behind them, and they buy gifts all year. A ceramic from Kyoto or a rug from Oaxaca is not something they can find down the street, and that is exactly why they search for it.

What changed at the border in 2025

Until August 2025, a parcel worth under 800 dollars entered the United States without import duties. That exemption, called de minimis, ended for commercial parcels from every country on 29 August 2025. Since then, duties apply to almost every order, small ones included.

On 1VIM the buyer sees those duties in the price before paying, and wherever the courier allows it they are paid at checkout, so nobody is asked for money at the door. Your price stays your price; the duties are the buyer's and are shown as such.

Describe it the way customs reads it

What it is made of, where it was made, and an honest value. 1VIM fills the customs form from your listing, so a clear listing is a parcel that clears quickly. Three plain words a stranger understands beat a poetic name on the form.

Sizes and words

Give sizes in centimetres and in inches, and weights in grams and in pounds or ounces. Say how to care for the piece. American buyers read reviews closely, so answer messages quickly and pack with care: every good review sells the next piece.

When Americans shop

The biggest season runs from late November to Christmas, and Valentine's Day and Mother's Day in May are strong too. A parcel from abroad can take one to three weeks, so list gift pieces early and say clearly when an order will leave your hands.
